Have We Lost Our Minds?!?!

Most who know us would say, YES, without hesitation! We live a rather chaotic life. We are full of energy. Our child is full of energy (understatement of the year). And even our dogs are full of energy. Don't get me wrong. We like it this way. It's fun and never a dull moment. You'll often times find 1 of the 3 of us flustered and in a tisy. But, it's all good. It's perpetual motion until around the hour of 8:00pm. That's when the child is fast asleep. I am vegged out on facebook or the t.v. The husband is vegged out in the newspaper or t.v.
I say all of this and ask you the question of "Have we lost our minds?" because we have decided to move the child to his big boy bed. No, he's not climbing out of his crib. He's been sleeping through the night, for the most part, since he was 16 weeks old. But, he wakes up anywhere b/w 6:00 and 7:30 and screams (rather angrily) my name until I come gather him up. He does this at nap time too. And no, there isn't another babe on the way. Not yet, anyway. My thought is that he'll be happier if he can just wake up and come to us. Not the other way around. And not when he's not supposed to (i.e. middle of the night). I hear your laughter. You're saying, "You foolish rookie mother! Keep him in there as long as he'll stay! Yes, you are CRAZY!"
But, we're diving in! We're doing it. Maybe tonight. We're gonna make a super big deal out of it. Have a party for Henry and Teddy and all 1,000 blankets that reside in the crib with him every night. My beautiful antique double bed, that is dying to have the navy/white stripped Pottery Barn quilt and shams draped across it, will be nestled in right next to the beloved crib until we know it's safe to move it out.
So, wish us luck. Send all your good sleep vibes to us. Any advice that you have for making this transition smooth is WELCOME and NEEDED.
Stay tuned for updates and pics of the new room.
