Fat Tongue!

Ok. This picture seriously does not do it justice. It is nausea inducing to say the very least and my neighbor described it as gnarly! Yea, real gnarly dude!

When I picked Henry up from Mrs. Brenda's today she said he'd had a little accident. Fell down, bit, his tongue, bled a bit, cried some, and was on his way. I chalked it up to him being tough and headed home. When I got him to the car I asked him to stick his tongue out. And OH MY! I really do not have a weak stomach usually, but maybe since it's my child it's different. My stomach turned and I felt queasy. It hasn't phased him a bit! He's been drinking juice, eating popsicles and goldfish and hasn't flinched.

I've called his pediatrician and there's really nothing to do for mouth injuries other than watch for fever and swelling, etc. He said the mouth heals rather quickly and he should be fine!

My boys soooo TUFF!!!

Big Fat "Goose Egg"

About a month ago Uncle D predicted that we would be taking a trip to the ER with our rambunctious one before Christmas. And he was ALMOST right! No ER, but we did visit the after hours clinic at St. Francis tonight.

I was digging around in my closet after work when Henry came running into the room to get me and tripped over a bag that was in the middle of the floor. He fell face first into the corner of the closet door and came up with a BIG FAT GOOSE EGG on his forehead! No consciousness lost, no broken skin or bleeding, and no vomiting. Only about a minute of hard crying. I called the doctors office and they were already closed, so the doc on call called me back. She said he was probably fine, but it's never a bad idea to get checked out. And we did just that over at Peds Plus.

The precious Scottish doctor checked my buddy out and confirmed that he was OK, but that we need to watch him for about 24 hours. I knew he was OK. I just needed to hear it from a professional. And I'll sleep much better tonight b/c of it!
So, my little "wild man" has a new battle wound, but it hasn't slowed him down one bit! It looks terrible (much worse than these pics indicate), but he is one tough little boy! And I love him to pieces!

You Should See the Other Guy

No, not really! But, it seems that Henry did get in a fight with a mosquito or a sand gnat or some other small pesky creature. We went to the beach yesterday and by the time we got home his left eye was looking a wee bit swollen. I thought he was fine until he woke up this morning. Almost "swoll" shut! Still not worried until he woke up SCREAMING violently from his morning nap. I could not get him to calm down and knew something was wrong. His eye was even more swollen by this point. So we headed to the after hours pediatric urgent care clinic at St. Francis. We saw a great pediatrician and she definitely said it was a bite of some sort AAAANNNDD a double ear infection to boot! UGGGGHHHH!!! No wonder Henry's been waking up so early these last few days. He's really been fine except some minor ear pulling and early waking. What a tough little man!
