PC vs. The Citadel

The Blue Hose were in town to play El Cid on Saturday night so we jumped on the chance to take Henry to his first college football game/tailgate! We got there around 5 and tailgated at The Joe with the PC Scotsmans Club. They had such a nice spread complete with Lowcountry Boil and a cash bar. PC made quite a showing in the tailgate department and I was so proud to see the students today know how to throw down on a Saturday night just like we did back in the day:) There were tons of PC tents, food like you wouldn't believe, and cute fashions that I loved checking out!

We walked around for a while before the game started at 7:00 and had so much fun seeing all the people.

We watched the cadets parade in and Henry was mesmerized!
PC held their own in the first half and really looked good, but things went downhill fast after half time!

Henry loved the game and was so intrigued with the big football players and would throw up his hands and say TOUCHDOWN anytime we scored!

Much thanks to Jimmy and Margaret for helping us wrangle the wild man throughout the night! He LOVES them and loved sitting on Jimmy's lap!

Marge made sure we got few photo ops with the Scotsman!Align Center

Such a fun night was had by all and I've definitely got the tailgate fever now! I think we need to make a trip to Columbia real soon! Or maybe we'll just become Citadel fans and "gate" here every weekend!

Henry's Harem

Does this little dirty boy look like a ladies man to you?
Well, apparently that's the reputation my son has earned himself at Westminster Preschool. I've always know he had a little thing for the gals, but I wasn't sure it was quite this bad! There are two little girls in his class that he has been talking about constantly. Mia and Ewee Camden (Ellie Camden). I am constantly asking him questions and prodding him to give me details about his friends and his teachers and most often these two come up. Mia this and Ewee Camden that!

Then comes this note home in his sweet little monogrammed book bag on Monday:

Dear Shelby and Brad,

I'm so sorry Henry's face was scratched today. He got in way too close to his best friend Mia and she scratched. We talked and told her to put her hand out and say "No Henry". She gave him a big hug and a "sorry" and then they kissed (on the mouth of course). We're working on blowing kisses in the interest of keeping germ transmission down.
Also, I fear that Henry may not be ready for underwear in class yet. Target and Walmart make these super absorbent lined plastic pants. They allow the child to feel wet like underwear but they are virtually leak proof (good for parents, school, and car seats/furniture at home). We'll keep asking him, but he'd wet himself twice by 10:25. Keep working on it at home and we'll keep working on it at school.

Ms. Barbara

S
o, I guess my sweet boy is as generous with his kisses at school as he is at home. We'll be working on blowing kisses and keeping his hands to himself here! I felt so bad for him Monday night. He just plain had a bad day and I think it was my fault for jumping the gun on potty training. He was just too busy at school to be bothered with remembering to tee tee! He had been doing great over the weekend, but not so much at school. I guess we'll revisit at a later date. Just as long as he's using the pot by the time Chicken Nugget arrives!

And to explain the title of this post, when I dropped Henry off this morning Ms. Barbara was dying laughing and said they've been calling all those cute little girls
"HENRY'S HAREM!"

Who wouldn't love those fat little cheeks?!?!

Chicken Nugget Update: 12 Weeks

I had my 12 week appointment this morning so we decided to make it a family affair. Brad and I picked Henry up from school early and took him with us to meet Dr. Hargrove and hear his baby brother/sister's heartbeat. Much to my surprise and excitement she decided to do one more ultrasound to make sure everything was looking ok. So he actually got to see the babe in utero! I'm pretty sure he didn't get it, but it sure was fun to be all together to see our new member!

Everything looked right on target for 12 weeks and Dr. Hargrove was very pleased with how the baby is growing. I also got to hear the heartbeat with the doppler and it was like music to my ears. I feel like a 100 lb weight has been lifted off my shoulders! I feel free and open to talk about this pregnancy now and am so excited!

Some things for my records:

  • nausea has worn off for the most part, but creeps up occassionally
  • hate the thought/smell of Chick-Fil-A and BBQ (2 of my previous favorite foods on earth)
  • boobs are enormous and still very sore
  • my tummy is starting to poke out a bit, but still not really showing
  • am very tired a lot of the time, but really don't have time to be tired like I did the first pregnancy so I press on
  • crave p-nut m&m's, french fries, and red meat
  • have a strong feeling that this baby is a girl (I also thought Henry was a girl until 2 weeks before the ultrasound, so we'll see)

Butt Cut

I took Henry to get his 2nd haircut yesterday at Hear Bears b/c they did such a good job the first go round. Well, this time was not so good. He has a blatant butt cut ala Lloyd Christmas in Dumb and Dumber. It is so short in the back and kinda dorky short in the front. These pictures do not do it justice. Brad has taken my privilege of choosing where he gets a trim away. Henry will now be going with his Dad to St. Johns Barber Shop.

Don't get me wrong, he still looks precious in my sight, but from now on we'll know not to take it so short.
Ya live and ya learn!

MOM

MOM

That's what Henry has taken to calling me these days. I mean, what is that all about? What happened to Mama or Mommy? I can't take this grown up moniker that he's suddenly dubbed me with. I want to be called Mama/Mommy until my children are AT LEAST 12, if not forever. Here are a few examples:

  • What's dat MOM?
  • Wet's go ober der MOM!
  • Do you wike dis MOM?
  • MOM, what we havin' for supper?

Oh well, maybe it's just a phase or maybe I shouldn't be so picky. As long as he's calling me, whatever name it might be, I'll be just fine!

Kids Say the Darndest Things

So, the report I got from Ms. Barbara (via Frankie/Mimi) about Henry today was quite hilarious! All of the children and teachers were sitting around the table having their snack and were discussing the different things that we all drink. You know, juice and milk and water and capri sun and COLD BO! This is what Henro has called Cold Beer since he began talking. All of the sudden in the middle of the conversation Henry says to Ms. Cheryl: "You like to drink cold bo? My Pops likes to drink cold bo." I guess they figured out what Cold Bo actually was and thought it was so funny. She responded, "Well I don't like it hot!" And the funniest part about the whole story is that anyone who knows Henry's Pops knows that he doesn't drink alcohol EVER! Now, his Mama and Daddy love a good Cold Bo, but not Pops.

I guess we'll really need to be careful of what we say, do, and drink from now on! Kids will tell ALL your secrets!!!

First Day of 2 Year Old Kindergarten

I am still in shock that I have a child that is old enough to be starting school. I mean, how did this happen? Wasn't he just born? Didn't he just learn how to walk? But, the time is here and my baby was more than ready! He had a wonderful first day of school and I got a great report when I picked him up at noon. Ms. Barbara and Ms. Cheryl are his teachers and the word is that he's already got a nickname. "Little Man" because of the way he talks like a little man. They said he LOVED the playground (the 2's go 2 times each day) and snack time! Imagine that.

He brought home 2 pieces of "artwork" and told me he loved playing with the Play Dough. He ate gold fish, a nilla cookie, and got to drink water from a big boy cup!

I did OK until I was walking back to my car. I teared up a little, but I think it was more from pride than sadness. I am so proud of how far we've all come!

Henry was less than thrilled about my little photo session before school, but he'll just have to learn to live with it. There will be LOTS more First Days of School for this family.

This is in the breezeway as he walks into Westminster Presbyterian Pre-School!

Does it get any cuter?

Henry with Ms. Barbara

He even got his favorite special lunch when we got home. A Dinosaur Turkey and Cheese Sandwich and Strawberries!

So, we're off to a great start to a big year for all of us! I couldn't be more excited for Henry as he begins his educational career and don't think he could be in a better place!
