Brewvival

Brad and I spent a wonderful day with Daniel and Keller at Brewvival at the Coast Brewery in
N. Chuck! The weather was so springlike and it made me soooo happy. There are few things I like better than drinking beer in the sunshine:) There were tons of craft breweries there and while I am not necessarily a fan of craft beer, Brad and Daniel LOVE it so Keller and I went along for the fun.

We spent the day there and then out for an early dinner at Pearlz in downtown West Ashley. And the best part was that H and M had a fun slumber party with Mimi and Pops! We slept in on Sunday and were ready to take on "The Crud" when they got home. Ahhhh, parenthood!

The Crud

You can't tell it from the pic, but these two boys have "The Crud". They have green crud dripping from their nose and crusty crud coming out of their eyes. And the big one apparently needs to have his ears irrigated. They have some sort of cruddy "plug" in them that can only be removed by the doctor. Nice!
So after a trip to the after hours clinic yesterday for Henry for some sort of allergic reaction that manifested in the way of very large hives on his arms and chest (another story altogether), both boys are sharing a teeny tiny bottle of conjunctivitis drops. A teeny tiny bottle that costs $50!!! WHAT??? $50!!! Thank goodness they can share.
Hopefully they're on the mend soon!

Hell has frozen over...

VS

Henry chose the red bell pepper over the funfetti cupcake for snack today. I mean, the child loves red peppers, but given a choice he ALWAYS chooses a sweet. Just like his mama!
Today, I was pleasantly shocked:)

I've Got Your Back Bro

Scene:
Henry was sent to time out this morning for talking back.
Manning wanted to play with Henry in his room, so we had to shut his door.
Manning didn't like this. One bit!

If there's one thing you can count on in this life, it's your little brother having your back:)

My Masterpiece

Picasso, Van Gogh, Renoir...I am not.
But I am quite proud of my little masterpiece. It's called "Funky Rainbow Row".
And I had a FUN night out with some girls at Bottles n' Brushes and dinner beforehand.
If your town doesn't have one of these little jewels, then i'm pretty sure you'll be getting one real soon. If not, please come visit me and I'll go do it with you. I'm kind of addicted now. So much fun!
You just show up and your blank canvas awaits you. You know beforehand what you are going to paint and then just wait for instruction. I have ZERO artistic ability. Zilch. But, the great thing about B n' B is that you don't have to. They tell you every stroke to brush, etc. Perfect.

Mine is a tad elementary looking compared to some of the other girls, but I still love it. It looks cute in our playroom and I cannot wait to go again.

SEWE 2011

Brad and I took the boys to see the sights at the Southeastern Wildlife Expo today. Henry even got to play "hookie" from school. It was a G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S day here in the Lowcountry and I might even venture to say that spring is fixin' to spring:) Or at least I REALLLLLY hope so. This mama is feeling cabin fever big time and this day is just what the doctor ordered!

The main event for our family was the ginormous shark slide and jurassic jump castle. Henry was in heaven and the only way to coax him off was the promise of BBQ. And some mighty tasty BBQ we had from Black Jack's! And we might have had a Bud Light to wash it down;) Nothin' better than BL, sunshine, and BBQ!
The boys had a ball just walking around watching all of the dogs, birds, and people. We walked down to Dumas and saw the puppies and on the way back saw the cutest ever Boykin Spaniel pups!

The real Jeff Gordon car.

Henro's first time in a Porto-potty! Lovely:)

Petting a corn snake. Even lovlier!

And one last photo op at the Garden & Gun booth.

What a fabulous day we had together as a family!

Crash

In the last couple months Henry has been in the process (a very long process I might add) of giving up his nap. It has been hard on me not to have a 2 hour break from him every day and hard on him at around the 6-7 o'clock hour. Some people think kids should be tired and sluggish at the end of the day after giving up the nap, but it's just the opposite. They are BUCK WILD. Like a dang firecracker lit through the house. And yes, in Henro's case, even more so than usual!
Well, today was brutal. He refused to have "quiet time" in his room OR playroom. Coming out approx. 8-10 times asking if it was time to come out yet. After 8-10 NO's!!! and a whole lot of screaming I sent him to his room and threatened to take ALL of his toys away if I heard another word. And I meant it! Well, I realized that it was really quiet back there after a while and that usually means one of two things. Trouble or Sleep.
And sleep it was. Oh, glorious sleep. In the form of a flat out PASS OUT sitting straight up. I love it when this boy is overtaken by the need for sleep. I can count on one hand the number of times it's happened in his almost 4 years. He just does not wear out. He rarely crashes and few are the times when he's been carried to bed on his Daddy's shoulders.
I love his energy, but it sure is nice to get a break every now and then:)

10 Months

  • It is so hard to believe you are on the verge of turning ONE! You are SO MUCH FUN and I love this age:)
  • You are in size 4 diapers and 18-24 clothes. You seem to be slowing down on your growing and are really thinning out and getting long.
  • You eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and have 3 bottles or sippy cups a day. We will be phasing out formula very soon....YAY!!!
  • You have taken to your straw sippy cup like a champ and only take your bottle at night.
  • You still don't love meat, but love all fruits, carrots, peas, green beans, yogurt, gerber snacks, oatmeal, whole wheat waffles, sweet potato fries, and pancakes.
  • You are sleeping awesome now and I hope I didn't just jinx it;) Down at around 7:30 or 8:00 and up around 7:30. Nap in the a.m. and p.m.
  • You started pulling up at 8.5 months and are cruising around the furniture like crazy and into everything. I thought you may be an early walker, but you show NO interest at all when I let go of your hands. You just drop down and crawl!
  • Lately you are becoming a Daddy's boy. You love him and constantly say Da Da, Da Da, Da Da. So sweet!

Sunday Funday

This crew skipped church on Sunday and we, really Brad, hit the yard HARD. The proof is in the 40+ bags of leaves on our street. The daddy is very sore, but our yard looks awesome and we had a blast playing outside ALL DAY LONG. It was a GORGEOUS day!

I will not be surprised if Henry comes up with a tape worm or chiggers in the next few days b/c he was one D.I.R.T.Y. boy at the end of the day. He was barefoot and shirtless, digging in the dirt and was in heaven.

And per usual, the Little Man was happy just to hang out in his "car" and watch us play.

I love days like this!
